NGOs say APP lack of progress

Several green organizations criticized Asia Pulp & Paper (APP) for lack of progress in some areas which made the company has yet to be on sustainable track, while its Forest Conservation Policy (FCP) is entering the fifth year this week.

The NGOs published a joint statement said that APP had insufficient plantation wood supply therefore they “feared the company will resume clearing Indonesia’s rainforests and cause further environmental and social impacts and involvement in deforestation.”

The group also criticized APP for “slow progress in resolving land conflicts with communities,” while “lack of progress in restoration and trading of degraded peatlands for areas that may have natural forest and community claims.”
